Mechanical Design

Project Description

Development of a foldable passenger seat for a Single Aisle Aircraft which allows for maximum standing room when boarding or leaving the airplane. Achieving this outstanding feature was possible by introducing a ‘single beam design’ made of composite fiber.

Tasks

Concept design, space analysis, kinematics, creation of 3D models, drawing generation, bill of material, prototype development, 16 g test execution

Increased moving space, improved access to luggage stowage, quicker and easier aircraft boarding and airline Turn-Around-Times.

Container Planning

Project Descrition

Development, planning and recording of container fo the the transportation of car body components between pressing and the assembly plant, across all relevant Client facilities.

Tasks

Creation of CAD concepts and liaison / interface management between pressing plant, body assembly and value stream planning. After handover to container to manufacturing, the realization phase begins in which the first prototypes are introduced and assessed in the factory. Potential modifications are incorporated in the design and taken into account in the development of future containers.

During the subsequent delivery phase, quantities and deadlines are planned and monitored, applying Just-In-Time criteria. All delivered containers are recorded in different systems and their quality is constantly monitored.

Problems arising during pre-series production are immediately identified, analyzed and resolved at technical and operational level. System Development & Integration

Project Description

Development of differnet systems within the cargo hold of the A400M transport aircraft, e.g. CHS / ADS,  LMWS / LMC, RWS / CWS, seats, MEDEVAC, placards and markings as well as emergency equipment.

Tasks

System specification, design and calculation of components, configuration and change management, project and vendor management, validation and verification documentation, assembly support.

Benefit

Harmonisation and priorisation of multi-national requirements, e.g. by introducing and maintaining a central requirements management system.

Structural Calculation

Project Description

Development of a transport stand for the A350 wing in the new Beluga ST cargo plane.

Tasks

Specification, analysis of re-use components, topology optimization for even load spread to floor interface and limited deflections for the different flight conditions, static strength FEM analysis, taking into account permissible weight targets, space envelopes as well as manufacturing and handling requirements, creation of justification reports.

Benefit

Weight and cost saving (both NRC and RC through improved manufacturability and maintainability).

Retrofit & Certification

Project Description

Development and certification of a Drip-Shield to purge condensation water in the E-Bay-Area of a B737.

Tasks

3D and 2D assembly design, stress calculation, creation of test plans i.a.w. EASA regulations, test support and test analysis, creation of STCs and approval as “Minor Modification“.

Provision of an affordable Retroft-Kit designed to reduce maintenance costs.

Software & Database Development

Project Description

Development of a module configurator for interior monuments, based on the use of product attributes, for the automatic generation of customized 3D models, 2D assembly drawings and parts lists in CATIA in accordance with operator’s specification.

Tasks

Creation of CAD base models and user interfaces, parametrization, code development and test, database development

Benefit

With this tool, it is possible to significantly reduce the necessary development cycle for the Client, to generate error-free models and production documents and to automatically calculate the weight of the assembly.

Color & Material

Project Description

Research and development of innovative surface finishes for metal components aimed at enhancing the perceived quality of the cockpit interior of a super sports car.

Tasks

Strategy definition, selection of technologies and suppliers, development loops, technical analysis, lab tests, cost analysis, compilation of a Customer packages that includes physical samples, lab results, cost analysis and suppliers proposal.

Benefit

The Client can successfully implement 3 new finishes into the production line, at lower unit costs and in a significantly shorter timeframe, compared to an in-house development.

Research & Technology

Project Description
Development of a climbing work platform for on- and offshore wind turbines in the context of the R&T Project SMART (Scanning Monitoring And Repair Transportation), featuring a closed, weather-proof cabin, aimed at facilitating the repair and maintenance of rotor blades.

Tasks
Development of different concept solutions, mechanical layout, evaluation, feasibility study and detailed design.

Benefit
Significantly improved efficiency (=cost reduction) in the maintenance of wind turbines, compared to conventional methods.
