From 10-12 April 2018, SII Deutschland revealed details about its Crystal Cabin Award winning SANTO seat concept at the 2018 Aircraft Interior Show in Hamburg, at Stand 6E80G in Hall B.

SANTO stands for “Special Accommodation Needs for Toddlers & Oversized” and is based on the concept of maximum space usage in the aft of an aircraft cabin. SANTO takes advantage of the unused space typically left between the last seat row and the aisle in the tapered section at the rear of an airplane, by introducing a one-and-a-half seat element, including a fully retractable armrest. This way, the seat not only offers enough seating space for two grown-ups and a child seat, but also, provides enough width for travelers in need of more space.

The beneficiaries of this concept are both operators and travelers alike, as for a moderate surcharge, the safety of travelling infants can be significantly increased and the comfort of travelers with special requirements can be drastically improved. For this reason, the SANTO Seat is attracting a great deal of interest, particularly as it perfectly fits the layout of any airliner.

Is is now planned to continue with the development of this concept through the assembly of a first prototype. A number of airlines have already signaled their strong interest, as the SANTO seat could help them to brideg a gap in their market.
